Find the word. Save the world...
Following the completion of his exile from the Wordth, Woogly, a wizard's apprentice, returns to the bug world only to find it enveloped with endless dark fog. His race of word bugs, the Wordtrotters, caterpillars with a body composed of letter-marked segments that form an energy-giving word or bugword, is on the verge of extermination.
Woogly finds out that the spell of the evil witch Grimmar brought forth the infinite darkness that is destroying the world and disunited the Wordtrotters' segmented bodies from their caterpillar heads, turning them into wandering solitary alphabet bugs called Letterbugs.
Wordtrotter elders blame Woogly and his friends Weegly and Whaagly for the imminent demise of the world.
The notorious trio has been previously banished by the elders due to a wayward magic ritual that summoned Grimmar and her bug-eating monsters, the Buggers, into the Wordth.
Now Grimmar has unleashed her Buggers to hunt and devour both the Letterbugs and the Wordtrotters.
Wordtrotters cannot last long without their bodies. To survive, they must fight the Buggers to catch Letterbugs in the correct sequence of a bugword and append them to their body for sustenance and strength.
Roaming dictionary bugs known as Vocabugs help the Wordtrotters catch the right bugwords, but Grimmar's spell has already confused and weakened them to the point of defeat.
Spared from Grimmar's spell by their exile, Woogly and his friends embark on a mission to undo Grimmar's curse to save the world.
They are joined by Woogly's mentor, Def, a powerful but forgetful wizard, in the quest to find the chosen Letterbugs that form the Anti-Spell, a bugword that will reverse the spell of Grimmar.
The one bugword that will restore the world and hurl the witch into solitary confinement.
Grimmar discovers their plan and she sends her Buggers to stop them.
And the Wordtrotter adventure begins...
